Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park

Best for: Families, longer stays, those wanting a full-service county facility
Nearby: Everglades National Park (30 minutes west), Turkey Point
One of the most accessible full-hookup campgrounds in Miami-Dade, Larry and Penny Thompson Park also has a waterpark, fishing, and sports facilities. The campground runs at high occupancy year-round - book well in advance for winter snowbird season (November through March).
This is one of our most-serviced campgrounds. Common calls we handle here: rooftop AC failures in summer, generator no-starts from extended stays, and slide-out issues on rigs that see daily use. We typically achieve same-day service for calls from this location.
Miami Everglades Resort
Address: 20675 SW 162nd Ave, Miami, FL 33187
Type: Full-service RV resort with pool, store, and wifi
Best for: Everglades exploration, snowbirds, nature-focused extended stays
Nearby: Everglades National Park (15 minutes), Anhinga Trail, Royal Palm Visitor Center
The closest full-service resort to the Everglades main entrance. Salt air from the surrounding wetlands and summer heat make this a challenging environment for RV roofs and AC systems. Annual roof inspection is particularly important for rigs that stay here seasonally.
Homestead Campground
Address: Off Ingraham Hwy, Homestead, FL
Best for: Everglades NP visitors, Biscayne NP access, Florida Keys staging
Nearby: Everglades NP main entrance (10 min), Biscayne NP (20 min), Key Largo (45 min)
The primary staging area for Florida Keys-bound RVers. Note that the Keys themselves have very limited RV repair options - get any known issues addressed before heading south.
