Miami's storm season produces two types of RV damage: immediate visible damage (awning torn, debris impact, flooding) and hidden damage that develops over days or weeks after the storm. The hidden damage is the more expensive category: water that entered through a storm-opened roof penetration or a new impact crack in the sealant begins saturating the wall structure immediately. In Miami's humidity, this moisture does not dry out - it stays wet and supports mold growth. A post-storm inspection within 48-72 hours of a significant storm event allows us to document both visible and hidden damage before it progresses.

Post-storm inspection reports are produced with insurance claim submission in mind. We document all damage with photographs, note the visible cause-of-loss for each damaged item (wind damage to awning, impact damage to roof, water intrusion at a storm-opened penetration), and provide repair cost estimates for each item. Insurance adjusters prefer documented pre-repair assessments - repairs made before an adjuster reviews the damage can complicate claims. If possible, contact your insurer before we begin any repair work, and let us provide the assessment documentation first. We have worked with all major RV insurance carriers in Miami-Dade and understand what documentation they require.

After a tropical storm or hurricane, our assessment scope expands beyond the standard inspection. We specifically check: the roof for any new penetration points from flying debris; all windows and slide-out seals for storm-related gap opening; awning and arm condition for wind damage; exterior compartment latches and seals for damage; and the undercarriage for any impact damage from road debris during the storm. For RVs that were partially or fully flooded, we assess the electrical system for water intrusion, the water damage extent in flooring and walls, and the appliance condition. Flood damage assessment involves more time and may require coordination with your insurance adjuster before any disassembly.

Documenting storm damage correctly is as important as the repair itself for insurance claim purposes. Our post-storm assessment reports include: timestamped photographs of all damage from multiple angles; a cause-of-loss narrative for each damaged item explaining the mechanism (wind uplift, impact, flooding); repair versus replacement recommendations with itemized cost estimates; and our certification as RVIA/RVDA credentialed technicians, which lends professional authority to the assessment in an insurance claim. We provide this documentation at no additional charge beyond the assessment fee. If your insurer requests a second assessment or a supplemental estimate for items discovered during repair, we provide those at no charge as well. Our goal is to document the full scope of damage accurately so you receive fair compensation under your policy.
Within 48-72 hours of a storm if possible. Water intrusion that begins during the storm continues to spread as long as the entry point is open. Early inspection allows us to seal any new entry points and document damage before it progresses.
Some policies include a loss assessment benefit. Check your policy or call your adjuster. We provide documentation regardless of coverage status.
Contact your insurer first if possible, particularly for large claims. For immediate safety issues (open roof, flooding risk), emergency mitigation (tarping, sealing) is appropriate before the adjuster reviews.
